Granular potassium sulfate becomes more expensive due to lack of volumes

Prices for granular potassium sulfate in North-Western Europe increased by the end of October, as delivery of ordered volumes, according to market participants, takes up to 12 weeks, and the demand for the product is active. German potash producer K + S Kali is experiencing problems this year at its Werra facility in Germany, resulting in reduced production, and Belgian chemical company Tessenderlo has already sold granular potassium sulfate by March 2019.Therefore, Tessenderlo will not participate in the annual tender of the Iranian agro-industrial company ASSC for the purchase of this fertilizer.

In addition, the Taiwanese potash sulphate producer Sesoda announced force majeure, stopping its 130,000 tonnes / year capacity on October 11 for mandatory repairs and upgrades after being inspected by local authorities. Sesoda expects to resume production in November, upon completion of all scheduled work and obtaining regulatory approval. Nevertheless, the regular customers of this company, especially in Australia and Japan, are still forced to look for other suppliers.
